Staincliffe Junior School’s Christian vision is clearly articulated, theologically grounded and rooted in the Christian narrative of love, dignity and community. Developed collaboratively with pupils, staff, governors, parents and church partners, the vision reflects Jesus’ teaching on how to live well together and underpins all aspects of school life.
The vision is expressed through four core Christian values: Respect, Courage, Trust and Joy, which are explicitly linked to biblical teaching and revisited systematically through collective worship, curriculum planning and behaviour regulation. These values provide a shared language that enables both pupils and adults to flourish spiritually, emotionally and academically.
Leaders demonstrate a secure understanding of current Church school thinking, including Valuing All God’s Children and the Church of England’s Vision for Education. The school’s definition of spirituality underpins provision, ensuring pupils are given opportunities for reflection, making sense of the world and emotional growth.
The Christian vision shapes strategic decision-making through SLT and governors’ meetings, school development planning, policies and self-evaluation. Collective worship and religious education are given high priority, resourced effectively and led by trained staff. RE is viewed as a core subject at Staincliffe Junior School.
Our Christian vision is not a separate statement, but a shared language shaping relationships, worship, governance and school improvement. Pupils and adults can explain how respect, trust, courage and joy help them flourish within a distinctively Christian and inclusive community.
